Lightswitches

Sorry for the delay in posting, but I’ve been working on my first meshes for TS3! I can’t take complete credit, as they’re actually modified from a mesh by Baumgarten Enterprises. It’s taken me a couple of days to work out how to get them in the game, but they’re finally working. Thanks to Apple and Flabaliki for their helpful tutorials.

So here they are: single and double lightswitches! Both are recolourable and can be found in the Decor and Electronic menus for ยง1. As this is my first ever attempt at meshing, please let me know if you come across any problems or have any suggestions on how I can improve. Hope you like them! :)

Btw, these are just decorative. I wish I knew how to make them turn the lights off and on, but unfortunately I don’t. If anyone has any clues about how to do this, please let me know!

Cool. Do they turn on/off the light or they are just decorative?

Just decorative, unfortunately. If I ever learn how to make them turn the lights off and on, I’ll definitely update them!

Wonderful! I love anything that provides the game with more realism. And thank you doubly for putting them in a logical place in the catalogue, and for making them cheap so they can go in all my houses. :)

To make them turn on and off, all you simply have to do is clone a wall light and change the mesh.

Jasumi: I did think of that, but I worried that the lightswitch itself would glow! I might have a go and see what happens. Thanks anyway for the tip! :)

When I saw these, I howled out loud with joy. I’m not kidding. I did. Lightswitches are a critical download for me and these are the first ones I’ve found for TS3. Thank you very very very very much!

Verona, please help me. I can’t find these in my folder. I’ve checked under deco/miscellaneous and electronic but no dice. I deleted the first download and re-installed but still nothing. Does the thumbnail match the images? Thanks, I really want these in-game.

Yep, the thumbnails show lightswitches. They should pretty much show up first in the menu under Decor/Paintings and Electronics/Miscellaneous. Let me know if you still can’t find them!

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. :)

I’m about to try to re-create my house in TS3 and I wanna learn how to create meshes and animated/scripted objects to make it as close to reality as possible. I was browsing the web for small clutters (’cause God knows how those tiny simple objects are the ones that we miss the most in the games) and I absolutely fell in love with this mesh of yours and if you could manage to actually make it work I’d appreciate if you’d e-mail me so I can download the working version.
If you just use a lamp’s mesh all you can do is turn on/off the lamp (or in this case the button) so what you really need is to learn how to allow this buttons to be connected to ceiling lamps, so that they will turn on/off other lamps and not themselves. I don’t know if you have an account at Mod The Sims or not but if you don’t you might wanna consider creating one ’cause people there might be able to help you make this mesh work.
